  • The Biology Resource Center (BRC) provides students with the necessary academic support to improve learning and understanding of biological concepts through peer tutoring, workshops, and other academic programming.  The BRC, located in NCF Addition Building, room 450, offers two major services: tutoring and resources.
    • Tutoring may take place in small study groups or workshops, walk-in tutoring, or by appointment. Resources are also available for selected courses with study guides, module answers, practice quizzes, biology models and textbooks.
      • Tutoring Availability – Tutors are available during the following BRC hours:
        • Mon-Thurs   9:00am – 5:00pm; 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
        • Fri   9:00am – 12:00pm
      • Students will need to sign in (and swipe in) and out on the BRC’s log each time that they meet with a tutor.
      • The goal of tutoring is to help the student become an independent student by assisting them in the learning process.
      • Students should be sure to bring their textbook, syllabus, assignments, and a graded sample of their work, if possible.  They should write down any questions that they have.
      • Although a student may schedule an appointment, they should understand that the appointment may be shared with another student.
      • Students may not skip classes or labs for tutoring.
      • Tutors will not do students’ assignments, lab reports, etc.
      • Tutors do not have access to quiz or test questions, but may have practice quizzes available for use.
      • Tutors will not take on the role of an instructor.
    • Resources: Students that are not being tutored may use BRC resources individually or in small groups.
  • Speak at a volume that does not detract from other students’ learning
  • Turn off your cell phones, do not talk on cell phones, or if absolutely necessary, take the cell phone call in the hall.
