FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Morning Prayer?
Each weekday whoever wishes gathers in the Chapel at 8:15 AM for less than 15 minutes to praise God who woke us up and started us on our way. It is a time to give thanks, pray for any needs we may have and center our minds, bodies and spirits to be the best we can be all day at Xavier. All are welcome!
What is Spiritual Direction?
How’s your prayer life? What is your relationship with God like? Could you use improvement in one or both? If your answer is “yes.” You could use spiritual direction, a one-on-one form of pastoral counseling that focuses on you and God. It is a conversation about how you encountering God in your life.
Deacon Vincent is a trained spiritual director who is willing to help. He will be located in the St. Katharine Drexel Chapel on Thursdays from 12:30 until 2:00 PM to be of assistance to you. Please feel free to visit with him.
What are Conversations about Prayer?
Prayer is a central element of spirituality and spiritual development. Periodically we invite those interested to gather for about 45 min. and talk about praying.
For these conversations, we talk about ways that we pray, how we focus, aids to centering, how to deal with distractions, etc. Faculty, staff, and students of all faith traditions are invited to come and just listen to the conversation or to participate. This is not a prayer meeting and there is no pressure to join in the conversation.
What have you done lately to strengthen your spirituality? This is a 45 min. opportunity. Are you really too busy?
