Dr. Fatima Brakta is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical and Administrative Sciences. Dr. Brakta earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and completed an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation, New Orleans, Louisiana. She is also certified in Basic Cardiac Life support.
Prior to joining the faculty at Xavier, Dr. Brakta was a practicing clinical pharmacist in internal medicine and critical care medicine at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist at Ochsner Medical Center. During this time she served as a pharmacy preceptor in the Xavier College of Pharmacy Professional Experience Program.
As faculty member and a Licensed Pharmacist registered in the state of Louisiana, Dr. Brakta maintains an Acute Care/ Infectious Diseases practice site at Louisiana State University Interim Hospital (University Hospital) were she conducts her Clinical Clerkship Course for the fourth-year and third year pharmacy students and Pharmacy residents. Her practice focuses on a team based approach in acute care and infectious diseases. Dr. Brakta currently teaches and coordinates the Global Health Disparities elective course for students in the college of Pharmacy.
