Dr. Janel Bailey Wheeler is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical & Administrative Sciences, the Director of the Xavier University PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program and an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist at Rite Aid Pharmacy. At the Rite Aid practice site, Dr. Wheeler provides Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services with a focus on diabetes education. Dr. Wheeler also places emphasis on community service with the majority of the services conducted at assisted living facilities in Metairie and New Orleans.
Dr. Wheeler is currently a member of numerous professional organizations and serves on the American Lung Association, Plains-Gulf Region Leadership Council
Dr. Wheeler earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. Prior to joining the faculty at Xavier, Dr. Wheeler was a practicing community pharmacist at Eckerd Drugs in Arlington, Texas.
Dr. Wheeler currently teaches in Disease State Management I, Pharmacy Practice, Basic & Clinical Nutrition, Women’s Health, Pharmacy Skills lab and Introduction to Pharmacy courses.
