St. Katharine Drexel Chapel
This project was constructed adjacent to the Qatar Pharmacy Pavilion, in the space that was once the Xavier University Student Center. The chapel is #8 on the campus map.
Designed by Caesar Pelli of Pelli Clark Architects, the St. Katharine Drexel Chapel has a wonderful, uniquely-shaped octagon floor plan. This spiritual center is approximately 11,000 square feet and includes a sanctuary, sacristy, meditation room, day chapel, bell tower, meditation garden, and the capacity to accommodate upward of 400 occupants. This building is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified, non-residential building constructed on the Xavier University campus. This facility was completed in October 2012.
