The concept of having a Pedestrian Bridge crossing Washington Avenue, connecting Xavier to the Gert Town community was officially introduced ten years ago. One decade, three Congressmen, five City Councilpersons, and countless meetings later, the city voted in May 2013 to give final approval to this project.
Currently, Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. (BKI) informed us that they have almost reached an agreement with a construction management team for the Pedestrian Bridge, a federal funded project. They are moving forward in trying to start the actual construction, hopefully in the first quarter of 2014. However, we do not have any additional information on this project.
