FOND FAREWELL TO THE BARN

(L-R) Jaime Johnston, a sophomore chemistry/pre-pharmacy major from New Orleans (Cabrini High) and Jasmine Branch, sophomore biology/pre-med major from Orangeburg SC (Wilkinson High) sport t-shirts commemorating the last night of intercollegiate basketball in The Barn. The Nuggets and Gold Rush made sure the venerable old building went out in style, sweeping the doubleheader from Tougaloo before a packed house. Next year the teams will play in the new Convocation Academic Center.

Professional stone carver John Nash of London England, the only sculptor world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli allows to work on his designs, begins chiseling two quotes and the name of the building into the limestone walls and ramp as work proceeds on the University’s new St. Katharine Drexel Chapel.
