XU professor of education Dr. Judith Miranti (center), recently named to the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) by Governor Bobby Jindal, is sworn in by Judge Ivan Lemelle ’71 at a private ceremony held at Dooky Chase’s Restaurant. Her son Vince holds the bible, while XU President Dr. Norman C. Francis ’52 and XU Division of Education Chair Dr. Rosalind Pijeaux Hale ‘69 look on approvingly.

XU CIIP Director Torian Lee and President Dr. Norman C. Francis welcome Gabriela Barbarini, the first student attending the University under the Brazil Scientific Mobility Undergraduate Program, to the campus, where she will study in the College of Pharmacy for one year before returning to Brazil to complete her education.

jobs JOBS FOR VETS

The new XU Convocation Center hosted the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Hiring Our Heroes” job fair, which connected 60 employers with 126 job seekers from the local military population. The event, held in conjunction with Super Bowl XLVII week, was supported by the NFL Players Association, and several current and former NFL players were on hand to lend their support.
