Senior March Madness Week
The Office of Career Services has created “March Madness Week” MONDAY-THURSDAY (March 27-30) to introduce students to the steps they should take to ensure their ultimate success. Topics of discussion will include career planning, managing your professional image, resume review, mock interviews, job search strategies, and more. An etiquette dinner will be provided FREE! Additionally, participants will be eligible to win prizes including Visa gift cards from $25 to $50! Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition / Changing America” Lecture Series
The Library is hosting the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition, “Changing America: The Emancipation Proclamation 1863 and the March on Washington 1963,” NOW through May 5 in the Nissan Room (sixth floor) of the Library Resource Center. The exhibit is open for viewing 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. In conjunction with the exhibit, the Library will also host Dr. Shamsul Huda’s lecture on the effects of the Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington TUESDAY (March 28) at 3:00 p.m. on the LRC Third Floor For more info on either event call 520-7655 or visit HERE.
The Mayo Clinic Medical School Admissions Info Session
Dr. Kenneth Poole, an internal medicine physician and administrator with The Mayo Clinic College of Medicine Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, will conduct an information session MONDAY (March 27) at 5:00 p.m. in NCF 105. Southern Illinois U MEDPREP Recruitment
Don Patton of the Southern Illinois University Medical/Dental Education Preparatory Program (MEDPREP) will conduct an information session THURSDAY (March 30) at 12:15 p.m. in NCF Annex 173. If you would like learn more about enhancing your application to medical or dental school post-XU you should DEFINITELY attend this session.
U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program
A representative from the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program will be in the NCF Science Annex (1st floor) on FRIDAY (March 31) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to speak with interested students.
2017 Graduate Exit Counseling
Just a reminder that students planning to graduate this May must complete exit counseling with the Office of Student Financial Aid by SATURDAY (April 01). Visit HERE for details.
Festival of Scholars Registration
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity (CURGO) is accepting student research submissions for the Annual Festival of Scholars, which is scheduled for April 20-21. Students are invited to submit poster and individual oral presentations HERE. The deadline is WEDNESDAY (March 29). XU Library Documentary Film Festival
The XU Library’s documentary film festival continues WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY (March 29-30) with a presentation of “Maya Angelou: and still I Rise” at 3:00 and 5:30 p.m., respectively, in the Library Resource Building, Room 400F. Wellness Peer Counselor Recruitment
Students interested in serving as wellness peer counselors for 2017-18 can pick up applications in the Counseling and Wellness Center, St. Joseph's Resource Center Suite 202, starting MONDAY (March 27). All applications are due by 5:00 pm April 12. Wellness peer counselors assist with counseling center sponsored behavioral health, recovery, and wellness outreach on campus.
STEM Educational Engagement Info Meeting

Truth Behind the Numbers
Truth Behind the Numbers is a community forum focused on the opioid epidemic in New Orleans featuring a panel discussion and book signing sponsored by American Association of Addiction Centers, Townsend, and Xavier to take place April 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pharmacy Auditorium. 2017 Sister Eva Regina Martin, S.S.F., Ph.D. Lecture
Dr. Darren Davis, a professor of political science and Director of the Center for Social Research at the University of Notre Dame, will be the featured speaker for the Institute for Black Catholic Studies’ 2017 Sister Eva Regina Martin, S.S.F., Ph.D. Lecture April 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Qatar Pavilion Auditorium. An engaging speaker, Dr. Davis has researched extensively the Black Catholic demographic in the country and will offer valuable insights for the future. The Department of Music will host its ninth annual campus Jazz Festival – a three-day event offering clinics/workshops and an evening concert series focusing on the multiple genres of the jazz art form – April 25-27, 2017. Visit HERE for more info.
Junior Premed School Selection Meetings
Students who plan on applying to medical, dental, etc. school in 2017 for entry in 2018 should sign-up for and complete the One-on-One Junior Premed School Selection Meeting in the Premedical Office. The sign-up list and required meeting documents are available in the Premedical Office (NCF 108) near the reception desk; detailed instructions were sent previously via email. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss which specific health professions schools students plan on applying to during summer 2017 as well as to discuss the status of professional school application components and entrance exam preparation.
