Graduation Requirement
- CANDIDATE MUST: Review your degree requirements with your advisor.
- Submit your degree application to the Office of the Registrar. ($120.00 graduation fee will be assessed for CAS graduates and a $148.00 fee will be assessed for COP/ Ed.D graduates).
- Make sure the application is complete and accurate.
- Students must satisfy all financial obligations to Xavier University (Student Accounts, Library Fines, Parking Tickets, Student Health Services) in order to participate in the May 2023 Commencement Ceremony receive a diploma, and obtain an official academic transcript.
- The deadline for satisfying financial obligations in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony is April 21, 2023. After this date, Fiscal Services will not accept personal checks.
- Students currently enrolled at another institution must submit an official transcript to the Office of the Registrar no later than May 16, 2023.
- If you plan to register for any CLEP exams, you must do so by March 31, 2023, and we must receive the scores by May 16, 2023.
- Update your current and permanent address and phone number in Registrar’s Office or Banner Web.
- If you are not participating in commencement, submit a “Letter of Absentia” along with a fee of $33.00 to your College Dean’s Office immediately. In absentia, graduates are ineligible to receive Admission Tickets.
- Each graduate must complete a survey.
Xavier University Convocation Academic Center Security and Bag Policy
The following bags are allowed:
· Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”· Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
· Diaper bags must also comply with the clear bag policy
All bags are subject to inspection before entering the Convocation Academic Center.
Items not allowed at the Convocation Academic Center cannot be carried in. Special consideration may be given to parents with infants and those with medical needs.
Prohibited items include:
· Strollers· Infant carrier seats
· Silly string, confetti and balloons
· Air horns
· Backpacks
· Any illegal items, or weapons (knives, firearms, objects that could be used as weapons), will be confiscated by security and handed over to local authorities.
Ceremony Schedule
April 16, 2023
- 2pm, Kente Stole Ceremony, Convocation Center
The Kente Stole Ceremony is an opportunity for all graduates to celebrate their accomplishments with loved ones or mentors who have walked alongside them on this monumental journey. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets to share with loved ones and is invited to select one person to present you with your stole. This person can be a parent, partner, professor or best friend, they will walk with you as you receive your Kente cloth stole and place it on your shoulders. There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony. Please RSVP by April 10, 2023, by completing this link: https://xula2023stoleceremony.rsvpify.com
Note: If you are unable to attend for any reason, you will be able to pick up your stoles in the Office of Student Affairs, beginning on April 17. Please contact the Office of Student Affairs, if you have questions related to this event.

- 9 am Roll Call/ Information Session - Undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences
- 10 am Roll Call/ Information Session - College of Pharmacy
- 6 pm Roll Call/ Information Session - Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
Roll Call is the official public announcement of Graduates and review of Commencement line-up and procedures. The Official Roll Call of Degree Candidates will begin at 9am for CAS- Undergraduate, 10am for Pharmacy and PA Program, 6pm CAS- Graduate.
Admission Tickets will also be distributed at Roll Call. Each graduate who is cleared to participate in graduation will be given ten (10) Admission Tickets. Must present picture ID. Any extra tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis on the day of commencement at the Will Call window in the Convocation Center.
May 26, 2023
4 pm Baccalaureate Mass/ University Honors and Awards
- Graduates assemble at 3:00 p.m. in the Convocation Annex Building.
- Prospective Bachelor of Science graduates should report to Room 215 of the Convocation Annex. Bachelor of Arts, Music, Master’s Ed. D and Pharm.D. graduates should report to Room 111.
- -Graduates wear cap and gown, no hood.
- -Procession begins at 4:00 p.m. sharp from the Convocation Annex Building to the Convocation Center.
- University Honors and Awards to Graduates will immediately follow Baccalaureate Mass.
- RECEPTION FOR CANDIDATES AND FAMILY MEMBERS AFTER HONORS CEREMONY

Graduates are expected to assemble one hour prior to the beginning of each ceremony. Specific details and assembly locations, will be shared shortly.
