Dr. Thomas Wiese, Pharmacy, Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium (LCRC) Xavier Associate Director, and Dr. Guangdi Wang, Chemistry, Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Program Director, in Dr. Wiese's laboratory.

Dr. Karen Zhang, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, conducts software development for sequence data analysis.

Dr. Shubha Ireland, Biology Professor and Chair, studies the genetic basis of prostate cancer, which disproportionately affects African American and other minority males. She uses both prostate cancer and "normal" cells derived from African American and Caucasian men. Here, she feeds a batch of cells inside a laminar flow hood.

Dr. Hector Biliran, Assistant Professor of Biology, and his students examine immunoblot data to determine the impact of the novel anoikis effector Bit1 protein on other key signaling effectors of tumor cell death machinery. Dr. Biliran's research focuses on the mechanism underlying the ability of cancer cells to evade anoikis or detachment-induced cell death.

Dr. Christopher Williams, Assistant Professor of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences, standing, and research associate Dr. Shawn Llopis analyze immunofluorescent images of breast cancer biopsies to identify proteins that may serve as potential therapeutic targets in breast cancer that are resistant to hormonal therapy.
