Dr. Wheaton received her Bachelor’s degree in biology and anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and received her Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Southern California (USC). She loves teaching and mentoring students, and is always interested in new and innovative pedagogies. She utilizes a variety of population-based surveys, including the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), to examine the impact of psychosocial factors on the health and well-being of older adults and to investigate health disparities. She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and presents regularly at the Gerontological Society of America and the American Public Health Association’s annual conferences.
