Biographical Sketch
Ms. Ssu-Yu Chang has been the Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese Language at Xavier University of Louisiana since December 2023. At Xavier, Prof. Chang teaches Chinese language classes, ranging from CHIN1010: Introduction to Chinese, to -3000 level advanced Chinese language and special topics classes. She organizes The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) each semester, and recruits and leads students to participate in the Huayu BEST Scholarship Program and study abroad in Taiwan in the summer. Aside from student services, Prof. Chang also promotes the Chinese language and Taiwanese history and culture on campus and in the community through guest lectures and cross-cultural activities. She comes from the Chinese Language Center, National Cheng Kung University, a top public higher education institution in Taiwan, where she has been a Chinese language faculty since 2019.
Prof. Chang was a Visiting Instructor of Chinese Language at Auburn University, USA (2021-2022), Instructor of Chinese as a Foreign/Second Language at Chienkuo Technology University, Taiwan (2018-2019), a member of the editorial group of Online Chinese Language Teacher Materials (2016-2018), and instructor of Chinese in various other institutions (2014-2016).
