Alaine Garner is both a XULA Alum and a proud resident and native of New Orleans. Louisiana. She received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana (2017), where she specialized in clinical mental health and school counseling. She also completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from XULA as well. Alaine is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana. Alaine has 10+ years of experience working in the fields of education and mental health. Her breath of experiences spans providing individual, group, and family counseling to children, adolescents, and adults for a range of issues: anxiety, depression, adjustment issues/daily life stressors, parenting support, academic support, relationship concerns and self-development work etc. In addition to her work here at the XULA Counseling and Wellness center, Alaine also provides clinical counseling services at her private practice located in New Orleans, La. worked at the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Pre-trial Juvenile Diversion Program assisting youth to avoid adjudication through receiving mental health services. Her research interests include parent-child attachment and relationship perceptions; family systems; youth behavioral interventions; family therapy; and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within collegial counseling.
