Dr. Gillard currently teaches topics in Cardiovascular Therapeutics, Pharmacogenomics and Self Care Medicine in the College of Pharmacy. He also maintains an acute care internal medicine practice where he precepts students and pharmacy residents at University Medical Center of New Orleans. Dr. Gillard is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and also holds a gratis faculty appointment with LSU School of Medicine.
Dr. Gillard received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Xavier University and then completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with Xavier and LSU Health Sciences Center. He has served as a residency program director for one of Xavier’s residency programs and is a past president of the Louisiana Society of Health Systems Pharmacist Southeast Chapter. He is an active member of various pharmacy organizations including the Louisiana Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (LHSP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
Dr. Gillard’s interests are mentoring pharmacy students on their postgraduate career paths, and also research in cardiovascular therapeutics, and infectious disease.
