Dr. Sparks teaches rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout in the Therapeutics II course, while also teaching in a case-based cardiology and two diabetes-related professional abilities labs. He also maintains an active practice site at University Medical Center New Orleans at the Tulane Primary Care Clinic.
Dr. Sparks received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry at the University of Florida in 2014 and his Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy St. Petersburg campus in 2018. Following this, he pursued his PGY-1 Residency training at Manatee Memorial Hospital and completed that in 2019. After his first-year residency, he pursued a PGY-2 in Ambulatory Care at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Gainesville campus. As a PGY-2 Resident, he taught rheumatoid arthritis, anticoagulation in renal disease and led students in skills lab and APPE readiness, as well as a virtual APPE course. He pursued research in perceptions of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) while also examining the heart failure with reduced ejection fraction population of a rural clinic. In 2020, Dr. Sparks accepted a position at Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy where he currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor.
