Dr. Kristy A. Brumfield is a counselor educator who is excited to return to the City of New Orleans and the faculty at Xavier University of Louisiana after eight and a half years at Immaculata University (January 2015 - August 2023). Prior to this she was a member of the faculty at Xavier University of Louisiana (August 2008 - December 2014) and had been a counselor working with children and adolescents in New Orleans for over ten years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor, a Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. In addition to play therapy, her professional/research interests include work with preschool age children and families, African American women, Gifted individuals, filial therapy, group therapy with adolescents, and multicultural counseling. For more than 20 years she has demonstrated a passion for utilizing creative counseling techniques with clients of all ages.
