Bio: Dr. Das earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the Indian Statistical Institute, India which is an institute of National Importance in India and one of most prestigious mathematics and statistics research facilities in the world. Before Joining, Xavier University of Louisiana in the Fall of 2022, he was an AARMS postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University, Canada under the mentorship of Prof. Karl Dilcher. Prior to his year at Dalhousie, he spent three more years at the University of Waterloo, Canada as a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Prof. Cameron Stewart. He also spent time at the Institute of Mathematics, University of Pierre and Marie Curie, Jussieu, Paris VI as a visiting postdoc under Prof. Patrice Philippon.
Research Interest: Dr. Das is primarily interested in number theoretic problems. His expertise is in Diophantine Approximation, Diophantine Equations, Recurrence Sequences, and Transcendental Number Theory. He is also interested in elliptic curve cryptography and random number-generating algorithms. He is looking to hire students to do summer research. For more information, please contact him.
Grants and Awards: Recently, he was awarded the prestigious AMS-Simons Research Enhancement Grant from the American Mathematical Society and Simons Foundation. He also got an internal grant from Title III, Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans, LA. He was a recipient of one the most prestigious fellowships awarded to promising researchers for postdoctoral research at a Canadian university from the Atlantic Association of Research in Mathematical Sciences (AARMS), Canada. He also received an LIA Indo-French fellowship for Indian researchers given by CNRS, France to visit Universities in France. Apart from the awards he received several grants for travel including organizations like ICTP Italy, CIMPA, and others.
Organization: He is a co-organizer of the Bayou Arithmetic Research Days 3 (BARD 3) conference at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in Fall 2023 with Dr. Gene Kopp (LSU) and Dr. Olivia Beckwith (Tulane). He also co-organizes the Mathematics at Xavier at Xavier University of Louisiana, 2022-23. He also co-organized the Number Theory Seminar with Dr. Shane Chern at Dalhousie University, 2021- 2022.
