Xavier University of Louisiana’s Men’s Basketball team are 2023 RRAC Tournament Champions!  

Xavier University of Louisiana’s Men’s Basketball team, Gold Rush, are 2023 Red River Athletic Conference Tournament (RRAC) champions! They defeated the top-seeded LSU-Shreveport with a 79-63 victory during the championship game on Sunday, February 26, 2023.   

With a 22-8 season record, Gold Rush won the conference tournament for the third time in four years. This is the first time Xavier has won at this rate in over 40 years, with Gold Rush winning 12 of their last 14 games.  

“It was our defense that got it done. We had to get LSUS out of their comfort zone and our guys did a great job of shutting them down, especially in the second half,” said XULA’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Alfred Williams. 

This win secures the team’s automatic bid to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) nationals. The opening rounds for NAIA’s championship game will take place March 7-8, 2023, with the winner of the final game advancing to the men’s basketball national championship in Kansas City, Missouri.
