The Edvocate Ranks Xavier No. 3 Among Nation’s Catholic Universities

New Orleans La. – Xavier University of Louisiana has been ranked among the top Catholic universities in the United States by The Edvocate, a website which advocates the enhancement of the quality of education and opportunities for learning,  
In a special 2020 report on the “Best Catholic Colleges and Universities”, Xavier was ranked No. 3, behind only the University of Notre Dame and Gonzaga University. Xavier is the only college in Louisiana to make the list.   According to The Edvocate, the list was compiled after a review of the following criteria: affordability and access, graduation and retention rates, reputation, faculty and resources, student selectivity, financial resources, accreditation, student success surveys, and alumni giving/engagement.

The cite specifically cited Xavier for its promotion of student service and leadership, its focus on providing minority students an education “that surpasses programs at other schools”, its status as the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic HBCU, and its strong preparation of pharmacy and premedical students.
