During spring break, three senior Administrators from Xavier University of Louisiana’s Division of Student Affairs completed an institute on Crisis Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School- Changamire Durall, Assistant Vice President of Campus Safety and Chief of Police; Darryl Keller, Assistant Dean for Student Life; and Chermele Christy, Executive Director of Residence Education and Off-Campus Housing. The three senior administrators joined over 50 university leaders from across the country for an intensive week of learning and preparation on managing campus crises from immediate response to long-term recovery.
“It is imperative that our faculty and staff are prepared for unforeseen circumstances. It is our priority to maintain the safety of our students and campus,” said Curtis Wright, Vice President of Student Affairs at Xavier University of Louisiana. “These senior administrators are only one out of many examples of the active dedication our faculty and staff have to preparing themselves in all aspects of maintaining and improving the wellbeing of our students and institution.”
Leadership in Crises in Higher Education Institute prepares college administrators to respond to crises effectively, develop protocols and practices that minimize the potential for future occurrences, and inspire confidence in the long-term safety, security, and success of their institutions.
