Xavier University of Louisiana’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Faculty Development (CAT+FD) is one of the winners of the D2L 2024 Excellence Award. D2L is a global technology learning company, and the award is given annually to organizations and programs that have demonstrated excellence in using D2L’s Brightspace, utilizing the platform to enhance and elevate the learning experience at their institutions.
Xavier’s CAT+FD won the award for its #LearnEverywhereXULA (LEX) and LEX Advanced initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, which leveraged the Brightspace platform to provide training and resources to faculty who were unfamiliar with the platform and those who could benefit from learning how to teach in an online space. Through the initiatives, 96% of the faculty completed the courses that not only provided resources for online instruction but also ensured proficiency beyond the pandemic and helped enhance in-person classes. CAT+FD was a recipient of the D2L Excellence Award for this comprehensive faculty training.
