President Verret to Give Prestigious Lecture at Georgetown University
Robert M. Groves, Interim President of Georgetown University, cordially hosts a series of events celebrating Xavier’s Centennial. As part of the celebration, President Reynold Verret, Ph.D. will offer the 2025 Bernardin Lecture.
The prestigious Bernardin Lecture, named after Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, is an annual event sponsored by The Francis Project. Each year, Georgetown invites its community and friends working on human dignity and life issues, to listen to a prominent leader speak and engage in dialogue with individuals who, like Cardinal Bernardin, have dedicated their lives to learning from and walking with those experiencing poverty, vulnerability, and marginalization.
President Verret will explore sciences and humanities, faith and reason, and Catholic higher education, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 5 p.m. in Georgetown’s Riggs Library, located on the third floor of Healy Hall. A reception will follow.
On February 27, Georgetown will host Reflecting on the Significance of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies and the Journey Toward Reconciliation, an exhibition and lecture featuring Father Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J. Board member, Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation and Monique Maddox President & CEO, Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation.
The event will take place at 4 p.m. in Georgetown’s Murray Room Lauinger Library on the fifth floor. A reception will follow. RSVP here to attend.
