The Center for Equity, Justice, and the Human Spirit conducts original, interdisciplinary research in the areas of educational equity, criminal justice reform, and environmental sustainability. Xavier’s location in New Orleans offers a living laboratory for hands-on research, and the Center provides the critical lenses of equity and justice for development of shared understandings, evaluation tools, policy shifts, and measurable social impacts that lead to change in historically oppressed and marginalized communities. The Center serves to transform research into action that leads to a more just and equitable society.
