The mission of the Center for Traumatic Stress Research (CTSR) is to raise awareness about the most salient issues pertaining to traumatic stress, particularly for culturally and socially marginalized individuals. Through sponsored research projects, the CTSR team members engage in investigations that inform educators, mental health practitioners, and consumers. We seek to educate others about the nature and prevalence of traumatic stress and factors influencing resilience among key client populations.
The CTSR researchers also seek to partner with other scholars across disciplines to collaboratively explore phenomena correlative to traumatic stress. Of significance, the CTSR team partners with practitioners in their research activities to ensure that “real world” solutions remain a focus of investigations. Subsequently, the CTSR scholars frequently sponsor opportunities to disseminate their research using creative tools to elicit critical feedback from consumers, practitioners, and other scholars, within and outside of the discipline of counseling.
