Dr. Chris Faircloth, Assistant Professor of Sociology. Dr. Faircloth is a medical sociologist with long-standing interests in the chronic illness experience and chronic illness management strategies. He has expanded his interests to include health disparities, with research into stroke recovery differences among three ethnic groups and a unique qualitative study at Xavier that focused on self-management of Type-2 Diabetes among lower socioeconomic status African Americans in post-Katrina New Orleans.

Dr. Elliott Hammer, Professor of Psychology and John LaFarge Professor in Social Justice. Dr. Hammer is an experimental social psychologist who specializes in impression formation and the antecedents and consequences of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination on both the perceiver and the target of prejudice. He also applies social psychology to the classroom through the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on interracial interactions and the role of subtle expressions of prejudice on student experiences and outcomes.
