The Institute For Black Catholic Studies 2021 News
In July 2019, the Institute for Black Catholic Studies (IBCS) was poised to celebrate with great thanksgiving its 40th "illuminating, energizing and eventful summer session" on the campus of Xavier University of Louisiana. The celebration, however, was postponed due to torrential rains associated with Hurricane Harvey. So the 40th Anniversary committee geared up to restage the commemoration this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has waylaid those plans too; sadly we have cancelled the IBCS 40th Anniversary -1980-2020 "Keep on Keeping On" - scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the XULA University Center. We give God glory and praise for the continuing ministry of the IBCS, even as we prepare to go online for the 41st summer session!
See https://www.xula.edu/ibcs for details.
We appreciate the generous support of the Xavier University of Louisiana community and the former IBCS directors, faculty and staff who were to be honored. We are especially grateful for the event sponsors and ticket purchasers, our biggest cheerleaders; you will be contacted after this summer session regarding your donations. Remember that proceeds were pledged to the IBCS Scholarship fund. We acknowledge with great affection and gratitude the blessed trinity - Sr. Dr. Eva Marie Lumas, Mrs. Edith Stevens and Ms. Tahirah Thea Stevens - and the faithful Friends of the Institute who worked tirelessly twice to plan a joyful celebration that celebrates the gift of the IBCS and urges us all to "Keep On Keeping On".
