Xavier ADVANCE Program
XULA STrIDES
The XULA Supporting Transformation: Intersectional Directions to Engender Success (STrIDES) proposal funded through the NSF ADVANCE program is focused on creating an equitable, inclusive and energizing climate for female STEM faculty members by addressing some systemic barriers which currently lead to higher attrition rates of female faculty and Women of Color. These efforts will result in higher retention rates for female faculty, especially African-American female STEM faculty members and academic leaders. To address these goals the XULA STrIDES team is implementing evidence-based strategies to monitor and coordinate STEM faculty diversity efforts, develop faculty leadership skills and promote educational workshops to increase awareness of intersectional boundaries and shift the campus culture to a more inclusive environment.
