Important update regarding partial parking lane closures in Parking Lot F, specifically in the area bordering S Genois St, Dixon St, and S Clark St.

Starting this Friday, February 9th, the first three lanes within Parking Lot F will be closed off until the summer. This closure is necessary to facilitate construction work in the vicinity. As a result, those three lanes will be unavailable for use from February 9th onwards.

Additional Information

Auger Cast-in Place Piles (ACIP) will be used for building the Dormitory instead of driving piles. ACIPs are constructed by first drilling into the soil and then pouring concrete once the desired depth is reached and causes minimal vibrations. Vibration monitoring will be used initially as a precaution.

Construction workers will be prohibited from parking in the surrounding neighborhood outside of the project site. Construction workers will park in Xavier’s Gert Town parking lot at the corner of Stroelitz Street and Pine Street and will be shuttled to and from the project site. (subject to change)

The new Parking Garage will provide extra parking spaces, which is an increase in the number of parking spaces available currently.

The contractor will be limited to working within normal business hours, which are from 7am to 5pm.

Xavier’s operational plan for the existing dormitories will be implemented for the new dormitory.

Xavier is working with the contractor to identify closures. Only minor disruptions for utility tie-ins are currently planned.

Yes, sidewalks and street parking around the project site will be closed for the duration of the project.
