Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D)

The program is a 60-credit hour, 100% online program focusing on urban education and school turnaround, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach that blends theory and research with practice. As a doctoral student, you will have access to workshops and programs that will enhance your learning experience and process, transforming the way you write, think, and lead. Step into our small class size and experience intimate access to faculty and other students, all of whom will help you on your way to becoming a critical thinking and confident leader.

Admission Requirements

  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended
    •  Please note: Applicants must submit a master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Two Academic or Professional Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Interest

  • A sample of the applicant's writing will be requested during the application process by the Department of Educational Leadership. An online writing prompt will be rubric scored.
  • Graduate Record Exam Revised(GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT): Test-Optional

Application Guidelines for the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)

STEP 1

  1. Submission of a completed online application with the required application fee by April 1 for fall admission. Please note: This program has only fall admittance, and only ONLINE applications will be accepted.
  2. Submission of official transcript(s) from all graduate degrees and graduate coursework beyond the graduate degree. Please note: Applicants must possess a graduate degree to apply. The graduate degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university with a 3.0 or higher grade point average based on a scale in which A=4.0.
  3. Submission of two academic or professional letters of recommendation from individuals qualified to appraise your scholastic aptitude, leadership ability, and personal and professional potential in a doctoral program. Please note: Letters must be current (within the last two years) and signed using appropriate letterhead. Graduate School recommendation forms are not acceptable.
  4. This program is Test OptionalPlease note: if you choose to submit a GRE or MAT score report, the report must be within the last five years
  5. The submission of a statement of interest emphasizing why want to enroll in this doctoral program, an explanation of your research and interests, and why you choose to apply to Xavier University of Louisiana.
  6. Submission of an example of your best scholarly writing. The writing should not be any more than five years old, approximately 8-10 pages - not including the cover page and the list of references, and double spaced using APA format.

STEP 2

Selected applicants are invited to a departmental interview.

STEP 3

Once accepted, applicants will receive their letter of admission, and their acceptance fee amount and due date
