Dr. Carmen Cosme's first book Demando mi libertad, which presents the research of Afrodescendant women from Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic has won the Monserrat Ordóñez prize.
The prize was awarded by LASA (Latin American Studies Association) This group of black researchers write about testimonies written by enslaved black women from Nueva Granada, Cuba, and Venezuela (1700-1800)
