Summer Start Institute
The Summer Start Institute (SSI), is a six-week intensive residential summer program, is designed to provide focused instruction in math and assist newly admitted students in their transition to Xavier University.
Participants have an opportunity to complete their developmental math (MATH 0990D) requirement during the summer by completing a co-requisite course (combination of Math 0990 and Math 1030I), complete 1 core requirement course, experience college life and develop study skills that are crucial to college success. Successful completion of the program allows students to enroll in collegiate level courses during the fall term, earning more credits towards degree completion.
Eligibility
Newly admitted students with a development math requirement and ACT scores of 18-19 or SAT scores of 490-510 or Accuplacer score of 250-259 are eligible to participate in the program.
Institute Dates and Components
June 17, 2024 through July 27, 2024
• Academic Enrichment –Math and core course• Tutoring – Group and individualized tutoring for additional support.
• Weekly Success Seminars –Keys to Success workshops to learn about test-taking skills, time management and other topics to enhance your personal development.
Participants are required to attend all components of the program.

• Earn 7 credit hours toward graduation
Cost
Tuition and fees for 7 credit hours is $2,276.00. Room and Board is covered by the University.
