The Writing Resource Center (WRC) provides student-centered, collaborative, non-evaluative writing assistance to the Xavier community in a comfortable setting. Students can work alone, with tutors, or with their peers on writing assignments during various stages of the writing process. The WRC works closely with the English Department to provide extra assistance to students in English composition courses.
The WRC helps students build fundamental writing skills by offering tutoring, resource materials, and regular workshops. The mission of the WRC is to help students to become independent, confident, and critical thinkers who enjoy writing. We maintain a regularly-updated Brightspace page with information about upcoming workshops, recordings of past workshops, and other resources—all students in the College of Arts and Sciences are automatically enrolled in this Brightspace page.
The WRC offers thirty-minute one-on-one tutoring sessions. These are open to ALL Xavierite's needing help with any aspect of writing for any course, or for non-course work such as personal statements, scholarship applications, etc. Students can go to https://xula.guide.eab.com/app to book tutoring appointments directly.
Our hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-6:00 pm and Friday 8:30-4:30. On days when classes are not in session, our hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.
We are located in St. Joseph Academic and Health Services Center, Room 106. For questions or more information, please email coordinator Leeandra Nolting at lnolting@xula.edu.
