About Center of Excellence (COE)

The COE Summer Enrichment Program is a three-week program designed to introduce and expose participants to the Pharmacy profession. Various activities will be completed to give participants hands-on experiences in different aspects of pharmacy. The dynamic field of pharmacy offers several career opportunities which will be discussed by pharmacy guest speakers.

Students will also participate in ACT preparation, experiential labs, field trips, and health-related group projects.

Who should apply?

The purpose of the Centers of Excellence Summer Enrichment Program is to enhance the competitiveness of the pool of African-American high school students interested in health sciences and in particular a career in pharmacy. *Xavier University College of Pharmacy Centers of Excellence (COE) Program is supported by federal assistance made possible by the Divisions of Health Professions Diversity, Bureau of Health Professions, Health Resource and Services Administration, Department of Health and Human Services.

The COE Summer Enrichment Program is open to high school rising freshmen through seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. The student must be able to attend throughout the entire duration of the program time in order to be eligible for any stipends or other incentives.

Admission Requirements

 

Step 1. Complete Application https://gradapply.xula.edu/register/coeprogram

 

Step 2. Please list (1) name of a Math or Science Teacher , who have agreed to complete your recommendation. Teachers will be notified via email to complete recommendation.

 

Step 3. Upload a maximum 500 word "Statement of Interest" detailing why you want to attend COE, what you would like to learn this summer, and your motivation and professional aspirations of being in the Health Care profession.

 

Step 4. Please upload the most recent report card with current grades and cumulative GPA visible.
