At Xavier University College of Pharmacy, research is a powerful catalyst for real-world change. Our innovative research programs improve health outcomes for diverse populations, inform policies that shape the future of pharmacy and empower students with essential hands-on experience for their careers.
Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium
The Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium (LCRC) is focused on helping Xavier University develop the cancer research infrastructure that supports faculty and enhances research grants and funding opportunities for faculty development and growth.
By developing coordinated cancer research and education programs that optimize the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapies, the LCRC aims to uncover innovative clinical treatment programs that offer new opportunities for early cancer detection, treatment and prevention.
Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education
Through community engagement and partnerships in research, education and practice, Xavier’s Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education is dedicated to improving health outcomes of diverse communities disproportionately impacted by health and health care disparities.
It also encompasses pharmacy research on the social, economic and environmental conditions that influence disease burdens, including income and employment, nutrition, education and the physical environment.
Center of Excellence
The Center of Excellence funding includes a research scholars component that educates and trains students in research methods and provides opportunities to participate in basic and clinical pharmacy research. This program aims to increase the number of African American health professionals and biomedical researchers.
Pharmacy Research Within the Community
Xavier University’s research programs extend beyond campus and into the Greater New Orleans area.
Our Health & Wellness Center, part of the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education, is committed to improving community health by providing education, medication therapy management and screening services to people with chronic illness-related health care needs.
The Health & Wellness Center also engages community members in research designed to eliminate related health disparities.
