Pharmacy Connections: Building Bridges in the Community
Community involvement fosters a sense of belonging and social connectedness for Xavier University College of Pharmacy students. Community programs support our mission by providing access to quality health care, especially for underserved populations.
Xavier College of Pharmacy Health and Wellness Center
Communities where people feel connected are more likely to experience positive health outcomes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Supportive and inclusive relationships further enhance these positive outcomes.
Xavier College of Pharmacy’s Health and Wellness Center collaborates with the Louisiana pharmacy community and other healthcare professionals to offer screenings, education, and nutritional counseling for community members.
The Health and Wellness Center, an extension of the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education, also allows students to apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings. This includes providing blood pressure, glucose, and other screenings at local health fairs and leading healthy cooking classes.
Additional Service Opportunities Through Co-Curricular Activities
